Abaco is back.

Dorian. Covid. Rebuilding. Moving. It seems like we spent a few years doing nothing but working on our Abaco trips. The whole island was doing the same.

Abaco was returning.

Guana was rebuilding.

Today? There are a few reminders that something terrible blew through a few years ago, but most first time visitors probably won’t even notice.

Sure, if you visited Abaco before the hurricane, you’ll notice how much is missing in Marsh Harbor. If you head to Treasure Cay, you’ll see the marina is gone. If you visit any of the Cays, you’ll notice the trees, the damaged cottages, the changed beaches.

Despite that, these islands have bounced back beautifully. The beaches are beautiful. The palms trees are tall. The water is a million shades of blue.

Most of the restaurants and shops have returned. A few decided not to build back, but new places filled the gaps. It’s the same, and it’s different.

But it’s still better in the Bahamas and definitely gooder on Guana!
